Artist' statement

In our daily lives we are surrounded by a great many objects of which newly developed ones are almost exactly the same as the old ones. Object designs are adapted to products known to be sold well, so design has become a business tool.

I would say: Design can be much more. There can also be objects which make you more intelligent, but in a different way from what we are used to. My aim is to make people more sensitive and communicative in their relationship with objects.

It is crucial to realize that objects can never be finalized, closed or finished. Designers pass their objects on to the user who, in turn, develops it again further. In the end it is not about the objects but about what is negotiated, this virtual aspect of objects could be more interesting and valuable than the objects themselves. Even though this negotiation cannot take place outside of the objects, it is all about the relationship between people and objects. The dynamics of form determine whether this negotiation can take place. Listening to the voice of things is tuning in on whatever there is between all individual elements. It is there where the expressive moments originate and where one finds the true breeding ground for communication.
